Marie Hatakeyama is the new Tea Expert of Park Hyatt Washington's impressive Tea Cellar, featuring more than 50 vintage and rare teas from remote regions of the world.
A graduate of the Lipton House Tea School in Tokyo, Japan, Marie has an extensive background in the art and history of fine tea. While training at the Lipton House, she intensely studied the culture, foundation and "golden rules" of various types teas from around the world.
As tea expert, Marie is able to introduce guests to sophisticated, high quality teas similar to the level of flavor and complexity of fine wines. She can enhance the guest experience by assisting with individual pot or tea flight selections while carefully explaining their grade, channel of production and preservation process.
